  The Desert Rose

Out there in the desert -
Where hardly anything grows
Motionless and forgotten
Stood a rare angelic rose

Its life grows breathless and weary?
In the scorching heat of the sun
I looked upon it with sadness
For this sweet life would soon be done

A lonely rose who dreams of rain
Looks to the empty skies above
Whose shadow holds a secret pledge?
The lovely fragrance of its love!
